The honor roll at St. Dominic Parish School has been designed to encourage and recognize student character development in both social and academic areas. Students are encouraged to treat their teachers and fellow students with dignity and respect. Character development is seen as an essential aspect of education. For this reason, students are not eligible for an honor roll certificate if their behavior and work habit grades are not marked as G (Good) or O (Outstanding).
Honor Roll Criteria
The honor roll certificate is awarded to students in grades 4-8 who have achieved a 90% average or higher in their core subjects and have no grade lower than a B- on their report cards. The core subjects include:
- Religion
- All English Language Arts subjects
- Math
- Social Studies
- Science
- Spanish
Gold Seal Award
Students who excel further by receiving an A in all core subjects on their report cards and demonstrate Outstanding behavior and work habits are awarded a prestigious gold seal. This distinction not only highlights their academic excellence but also their exemplary character and dedication to their studies.
Honors Assembly
The honor roll certificate and gold seal awards are distributed at the Honors Assembly, a special event celebrating the achievements of our students. Parents are encouraged to attend this assembly to share their children’s successes. The date and time of the Honors Assembly will be announced in the weekly newsletter, ensuring that families are well-informed and can attend this important event.
