At St. Dominic School, music is available to all grades, from Transitional Kindergarten to 8th grade. The students work to understand the fundamentals of music theory and also apply what they learn using their voices and the student keyboards. Students also train their ears to recognize notes and train their voices to sing beautifully. You can often walk down the halls to hear children’s voices singing scales and songs.
Each year, the Music Program produces two shows for the school community. We have an annual Christmas show before the Christmas holiday and a Talent Show before the summer break. Each show allows the students to use what they have learned in class and, more importantly, to express themselves using music.
Mrs. Patricia de Vera runs the program. She works with each class weekly between TK and grade 5 and teaches a weekly elective class for middle school students. Mrs. de Vera is dedicated to fostering a love and appreciation of music at St. Dominic and does her best to make learning fun.
