Arts Electives
At St. Dominic School, we believe that the arts play a crucial role in our students’ holistic development. Our program provides diverse creative opportunities that inspire, challenge, and nurture each student’s talents.
Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade choose an elective from the list below.

Theater Arts
Students learn the craft of the stage — projecting their voice, moving with purpose, improvising, and building a character — then bring it together in scenes they rehearse and perform. It is a confidence builder as much as an acting class.

Clay Lab
A hands-on ceramics studio. Students work with their hands to pinch, coil and slab-build, then finish and glaze what they have made. Clay rewards patience and planning, and every student leaves with pieces of their own.

Yearbook
The team that records the school year. Students plan pages, take photographs at events, write captions and headlines, and learn layout, proofreading and deadlines — real publishing work with a finished book to show for it.

Musical Theater
Singing and acting together. Students learn ensemble numbers, work on harmony and stage blocking, and rehearse scenes as a company, building teamwork and stage presence along the way.

Watercolor
A painting class built around water and pigment. Students practise washes, layering and brush control, learn how colors mix and how light works on a page, and build a portfolio of finished paintings.

Crossfit Kids
Age-appropriate strength and conditioning. Students learn safe technique for bodyweight movements and work at their own pace through short, varied workouts. Effort and sportsmanship matter more than scores.
Participation in the arts enhances students’ cognitive abilities, supports academic performance, and fosters social-emotional development. The program encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, helping students build confidence and resilience.
