Students in fourth grade and above are invited to participate in the church community through altar serving. New altar servers are trained at a Saturday morning meeting and then shadow more experienced servers until they are confident in the role. Interested in participating? Altar servers assist the priest or deacon during Mass by preparing the altar and performing other tasks.
Training
The church provides initial and ongoing training for altar servers.
Responsibilities
Altar servers help with tasks such as carrying the cross and candles, ringing the bell, and presenting the bread, wine, and water to the priest.
Role
Altar servers are considered to be servers of Jesus Christ and are called to be friends of Jesus.
